Breaking down barriers faced by Asians and Pacific Islanders with disabilities by providing information and education to the community, training young adults to become advocates, and connecting families to resources.
Asians and Pacific Islanders with Disabilities of California (APIDC) gives a voice and a face to Asians and Pacific Islanders (APIs) with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities. We seek to help break down the service and cultural barriers faced by APIs with disabilities, to provide knowledge to APIs with disabilities and their families, and to create a community network for empowerment and independence.
Key to our mission is the development of the next generation of leaders — youth with disabilities.
In Memory of
Lillibeth Navarro
We are heartbroken over the passing of Lillibeth Navarro, Founder and Executive Director of Communities Actively Living Independent & Free. Lillibeth was a long-time supporter of APIDC and a powerful and influential leader, advocate and activist in the disabilities community. She was the keynote speaker at our 2016 Statewide Conference, captivating the audience with her wit, words and passion. She was also enthusiastic about cultivating the new generation of community leaders and moderated our Youth Panel. She will be greatly missed.

APIDC has been invited by the national health-focused organization Asian Health Coalition (AHC) to join a national ground-breaking effort to develop culturally appropriate, cost-effective strategies to improve the health of Asians and Pacific Islander Americans. Funded by the National Institutes of Health, APIDC has been selected as one of several subgrantees from throughout the country to develop an outreach program.
