Walk ‘n Roll

APIDC hosted our first walk-run: “Walk N’ Roll” in October, 2017. This festive community fair celebrated Disability Awareness Month. The event featured educational activity booths designed and staffed by APIDC’s Youth Leadership Institute graduates, entertainment by people with disabilities, resource tables, refreshments and a relay run sponsored by local bar associations and community organizations. The event was held at The Alhambra business campus in the City of Alhambra. Click here for more information on Walk ‘n Roll.

Youth Leadership Institute (YLI)

YLI trains young people who show a strong potential for leadership to become advocates for APIs with disabilities. The Institute focuses on a combination of developing grassroots leadership skills and providing a safe space for mutual sharing and learning. Participants are selected from a broad variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. Click here for more information on YLI.

Speaker Series

With the generous support of AT&T, APIDC facilitated its first speaker series in 2013 in both northern and southern California. The series brings speakers from different parts of the disabilities community to present to different regional communities of California. Notable speakers have included the Honorable Tammy Duckworth of the US House of Representatives; William Tamayo, an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Regional Attorney; and Alice Wong of the National Council on Disability.
