White House Continues its celebration of the 20th anniversary with Affordable Care Act

So often, we hear that people are skeptical that what happens in Washington impacts their lives on a daily basis. Last Wednesday, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the White House and Department of Health and Human Services once again demonstrated that what you fought for 20 years ago in passing the Americans with Disabilities Act and what you fought for earlier this year in passing the Affordable Care Act absolutely matter. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Domestic Policy Council Director Melody Barnes led a briefing on the positive impact health reform will have for people with disabilities.

In addition to remarks by Director Barnes and the Secretary, we heard tremendously moving stories of how the new health reform legislation has and will benefit millions of Americans with disabilities across the country. I could tell you what they said but it’s much more interesting if you watch the entire event for yourself.
